Global economic growth will slow even more in 2024 due to high interest rates, increased energy prices and a slowdown in the world’s major economies. The geopolitical risk could also contribute to a worsening global financial outlook.
Join EuroCham and BritCham at the special business luncheon at the beginning of the year 2024 to gain more insights on:

Nguyen Anh DuongDirector, Department for General Economic Issues and Integration Studies, CIEM
Duong joined CIEM in 2004. He has various important research papers and policy recommendations to the government of Vietnam on FTAs, macroeconomic policy, digital economy and circular economy. Duong has extensive cooperation under APEC and ASEAN frameworks. He led the APEC Economic Committee Team to develop the Enhanced APEC Agenda for Structural Reform 2021-2025. He has been leading the implementation of Viet Nam’s action plan for structural reform under APEC since 2011. Since 2019, he represents CIEM at the ASEAN+6 Regional Institute Network (RIN), coordinated by Bangkok Research Center, IDE-JETRO.

Mr. Edward LeeChief Economist, ASEAN & South - Standard Chartered Bank
Edward leads the ASEAN and South Asia economic research team, with economists based in India, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore. He provides macroeconomic analysis and on-the-ground views on major economic issues in the region. He is often featured in media and has regular interactions with policy makers in the region. Edward was a founding member of the Standard Chartered Rates Strategy team and was previously Head of Asian Rates Strategy. Edward holds an Honours degree in chemical engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master’s in applied economics (Dean’s List) from the Singapore Management University.

Mr. Tim LeelahaphanEconomist, Thailand & Vietnam - Standard Chartered Bank
Tim is responsible for macroeconomic coverage of Thailand and Vietnam, based in Bangkok. He is regularly quoted in the media and received votes for the Institutional Investor 2016 All-Asia Research Team. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Tim was the Thailand economist for Maybank Kim Eng Research. He also previously worked as a markets strategist for the Financial Markets Division at Siam Commercial Bank and a research assistant for the Global Markets Strategies Group at Barclays Global Investors in London. Tim holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick, UK, and a Bachelor of Economics (First Class) from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
